Title

Food products consumption frequency of youth offered by school shops

Abstract

The aim of this study was assessment of food products offered in 25 school shops as well as frequency of consumption by youth. Range of products in investigated shops were large but did not fit to products recommended by scientists. Sweet sparkling soft drinks (coca-cola, sprite, fanta, orangeade), sweets and confectioners articles, salt snacks and fast food type dishes were the main food products in the shops. There was lack of healthy snacks and products which may established as second breakfast. Health behaviors of the significant part of youths were not regular, however it was caused by limited offer. They often consumed sparkling soft drinks, chocolate bars, cakes, chocolate and sweets. Youth and their parents need healthy education and the school shop assortments should be monitored.
