Samples of milk powder and infant formulae (50) from different country factories and different production lots were tested. Contents of AFM₁ was determined using direct enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The sample were tested also for the appearance of toxinogenic strains from A. flavus species. The presence of AFM₁ in amount from 3,1 to 8,6 ng/kg was stated in 10 samples. One sample was infected by A. flavus mould, which did not exhibit toxinogenic properties on Czapek’s agar. Detection of AFM₁ in the most of infant formulae with starch addition supposes that starch can cause false positive reaction in ELISA method.
