Abstract
The lead and copper content was determined in 200 milk samples collected from the farms of southern Podlasie. The lead content in milk depended on the season and research region. During the winter period the milk contained less lead (3.70 μg/kg) than in the summer period (4.80 μg/kg). Additionally, the milk produced on the farms located far away from the motorways contained less lead (3.30 μg/kg) than the milk coming from the farms situated along a road (5.20 μg/kg). Affirmed the differences in the copper content in the milk between the seasons. The copper content in winter amounted to 0.045 μg/kg, and was higher than the content in summer (0.033 μg/kg). In all the examined milk samples, the presence of lead in the amount lower than the acceptable level was determined.
