Abstract
The evaluation of broiler chickens rearing was carried out in two farms from March to August 2001. In each farm there were three productive cycles. Production and economic results depended on the death rate of the birds and on the rearing duration. A high European Efficiency Index (215-234) was stated with regard to the four productive cycles, and as for two cycles, this EEI was low (150-188). In all productive cycles the Production Profitability Index was higher than 100% and amounted to 101.2-124.0%. In all the farms, the purchase cost of feed ranged from 58.6 to 71.4% of the total costs incurred, and the purchase cost of one-day birds ranged from 21:1 to 27.1%. The labour cost were between 1.35 and 2.68%. The environmental conditions of the broiler chickens rearing met the required standards.
