Title

Possibilities and range of interpretation of the differentation of quality parameters of a different species milk by the method of the discriminant function analysis

Abstract

This paper shows the possibilities of the application of discriminant analysis for assessment of the differentation of the main quality parameters (chemical and physical) in cow, goat, and ewe milk. It was reveal that method of discriminant function analysis is serviceable for dicrimination ewe’s milk and of cow’s or goat’s milk, also – but with higher probability of error – for discrimination of cow’s and goat’s milk. The two linear discriminant functions are: FI = -12,7639 + 0,7895X1 – 0,5874X2 +0,3854X0,0470X4 +7,3371 X5 – 1,0260X6 and F2 = +8,5632 – 4,1528X1 – 1,9095X2 – 0,5860X3 + 3,6271X4 + 4,3069X5 – 1,7440X6, where: X1 – % of fat, X2 – electrical conductivity in mS/cm, X3 – density in g/cm3, X4 – % of dry matter, X5 – viscosity in °E, X6 – % of non-fat dry matter. Measurement of density, viscosity, and electrical conductivity, and discriminant analysis of the results can be used in the detection of the addition cow’s or goat’s milk to ewe’s milk and in the detection of the addition ewe’s milk to cow’s milk.
