Abstract
The aim of the study was to examine the preferences of consumers of fermented milk drinks. The study was conducted in Wroclaw, in the period from October 2005 to January 2006. 310 persons were surveyed. The results showed that the consumers of fermented milk drinks were best acquainted with yoghurts – 97% and kefir – 94% of indications. The products were consumed mainly 1-3 times a week – 43% and daily – 39% of indications. The estimated level of consumption was 2 liters/person/month and was three times higher than the average in the Lower Silesia region. The factors which were most important for the selection of products were: taste – 24%, brand name – 23% and price 18% of indications. Quality (9%), reduced fat content (6%), expiry date (5%) and nutritional value (5%) were less important. The consumers preferred the following brand names of yoghurts: Danone (28%), Zott (24%) and Bakoma (15% of indications). The main source of information about fermented milk drinks were advertisements (43%) and press and TV news (23% of indications).
